It seems fit to me, to have a specific forum for the coming revolutionary Oasis of the Seas. So here we are!

I just picked up the new brochure specifically for the Oasis class of ship. It looks great! Lots to see and do. Here are some of my thoughts:

1. The ship is so big, it's going to seriously limit where it's going to visit. 5400 passengers is too many to effectively use tenders. I'm sure the draft and beam are too big for many docking facilities. I'm not surprised that the first few itineraries only have a few destinations.

2. With the ship being so big, I'm worried about the "crowd control" measures that RCL might implement. Specifically, I'd think you'd begin seeing more $5, $10, $20, etc. fees for the specialty restaurants, rock climbing wall, zip-line, etc. Do you think the carousel rides will be free?

3. Speaking of carousel, I'd be inclined to throw the thing into the ocean on the first sailing. Blech.

4. The aquatheater at the back looks really cool.

5. No centrum. Interesting that they are moving away from that concept.

Just a few thoughts... Anyone agree or disagree?

I'm looking forward to it, though when I'll get a chance to see her in person, who knows.

No doubt her size limits where she'll go. But several ports are are constructing new piers to support her arrivals.

The photos from her construction seem to put the size and layout into perspective. Much as the loss of a formal Centrum seems bad, I think it has more to do with this class than anything else. I'm not sure how many of these they can build in the mid-term.
