Royal Caribbean transports relief supplies to Labadee E-mail

Royal Caribbean International's Independence of the Seas expects to make port at Labadee today, with a substantial load of humanitarian aid.

Labadee is located far to the north of Port Au Prince, the devastated capital city of Haiti. The docks and other facilities were undamaged by the recent earthquake. And beyond the central part the area plays to those residents working for Royal Caribbean, it also is now one additional means to bring supplies into a country crippled by small airports, wrecked roads, and few means to traveling quickly inland. In addition, the Navigator and Liberty of the Seas are being prepared to carry cargo to Labadee as they cycle through their stops there.

 

 

 
Oasis of the Seas Completes Second Sea Trial E-mail

Sea Trade has written that Oasis of the Seas is due to take her next sea trial late this month.  She is described as being 95% complete, with the majority of staterooms having been inspected and ready for passengers.

 

 
Jewel of the Seas to visit Maine. E-mail

Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas will visit Rockland, Maine, during the coming year.  "The Rockland visit is the first new commercial passenger vessel destination in Maine in over 20 years,’ she said. ‘Creating new ports of call will likely lead to "greater annual ship visits in Maine, fueling both the local and regional economies." - Shari Closter, interim director of Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber

 
Radiance of the Seas begins run from San Diego. E-mail
Radiance of the Seas begins run from San Diego.  It will be doing mainly short runs, of 4 night cruises.  Sea Trade indicates the ships sailings will anchor a program of discounts for active and retired members of the armed forces.
 
Royal Caribbean launches "Best Price Guarantee." E-mail

Royal Caribbean International has started a price guarantee program.  The short version of this new effort to drive early booking is that if you find a cruise advertised by Royal Caribbean, indentical in all ways, they'll give you an on-board credit.  If you don't use that credit during the cruise, they'll refund the remainder.  The program is effective until 72 hours prior to sailing.
